About Viva
We’re committed to setting the standard in health care excellence, promoting high-quality care and outstanding value for all our members.
Who We Are
Founded in 1995, VIVA HEALTH prides itself on providing quality, accessible health care. We offer both employer group plans and Medicare Advantage plans locally in Alabama.
Viva Health Administration, L.L.C., is its sister company and offers third party administration services to employer groups. Viva Health’s parent company, Triton Health Systems, LLC, administers the Alabama Coordinated Health Network (ACHN) on behalf of the Alabama Medicaid Agency in three of the state’s seven regions.
Viva Health is part of the renowned University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Health System. Our extensive provider network includes many of the finest physicians and nearly every hospital in the state. The Viva Health provider network also includes durable medical equipment providers, home health agencies, skilled nursing facilities, urgent care clinics, pharmacies, and a wide variety of other providers and vendors that provide a complete range of health care services to our members.
Additionally, Viva Health operates multiple community-based, retail locations across the state where members and the public can walk in to have questions answered or attend educational events.

Viva Health has been contracted with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) since 1998 when it began offering Medicare Advantage plans.

Engaged Provider Network
Viva Health's growing provider network includes many of the finest physicians and hospitals in communities throughout the state. Our Primary Care Physicians guide members to the most effective health care options available. Since physicians are pivotal in the delivery of excellent health care, we strive to make Viva Health a provider-friendly organization. We give healthcare professionals who are part of our provider network a voice in how Viva Health is managed through our Utilization Review/Quality Improvement, Credentialing, and Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committees. Your valuable suggestions and comments are always welcome, and serve as a check and balance, ensuring that we never waver from our commitment to provide quality health care.
Along with physicians and hospitals, the Viva Health provider network includes durable medical equipment providers, home health agencies, skilled nursing facilities, urgent care clinics, pharmacies and a wide variety of other providers and vendors that provide a complete range of health care services.

Alabama Coordinated Health Network (ACHN)
Through the Alabama Coordinated Health Networks (ACHNs), Viva Health employees provide care management services, both general and maternity-based, to Medicaid recipients in Alabama. Alabama Care Network Mid-State serves Jefferson and Shelby Counties, Alabama Care Network Southeast serves southeast Alabama, and Gulf Coast TotalCare serves southwest Alabama. The ACHNs support the delivery of high-quality health care and improved outcomes by integrating with providers’ care plans, collaborating with community partners, and removing barriers to care to promote the health and overall well-being of Medicaid recipients.
Community Involvement
Viva Health is committed to helping create healthy Alabama communities. Employees enjoy giving their time and knowledge by volunteering at various nonprofit agencies, and financial donations and sponsorships are an additional way the company gives back. Viva Health strives to support agencies whose values align with our own in areas such as health disparities and physical and mental well-being. Some of our community partners include the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Birmingham, the Central Alabama Aging Consortium, Children’s Hospital, the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation, Kid One Transport, March of Dimes, and the Railroad Park Foundation.
